Regiona l Washington D.C. Trip Chamber President, Jonathan Coe along with Chair Elect Mark Fisher. Mayor Sandi Bloem, NIC President Priscilla Bell among others visited Washington D.C. last week along with delegates from Spokane, Spokane Valley, and West Plains Chambers. The group met with Senators and Representatives from both sides of the border as well as various federal agency representatives to talk about issues of importance to our region. Among the topics addressed were Bridging the Valley (the single track of railroads and the construction of rail crossings between Spokane and Rathdrum), ongoing funding for the Coeur d'Alene Basin Clean-up, federal support for Fairchild Air Base, the Higher Education Corridor, and funding for Workforce Training. County Commissioner Candidates Forum MONDAY, MAY 5TH, CDA PUBLIC LIBRARY The Coeur d'Alene Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Concerned Business of North Idaho, the Post Falls Chamber and Hayden Chamber of Commerce will be holding a County Commissioners Candidates Forum for the May primary election. The program will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Coeur d'Alene Library Community Room and is open to the public. If you cannot attend in person, the forum will also be aired on CDA TV Channel 19. Silverwood opened for the season last weekend, and the Chamber is now offering discounted tickets that are good any day and can help you beat the ticket lines at the Park. Tickets to the theme park are now available and can be purchased in the Chamber Visitor Center for only $34.99, plus tax for adults (ages 8 - 64) and $18.99 for children (3 - 7) or seniors (65+). Summer is just around the corner and the Chamber is gearing up for the Fourth of July Parade! This family event is a tradition in Coeur d'Alene and thousands of people will be in attendance. Parade applications are now available at the Chamber and must be turned in by June 13th for consideration. Don't miss your chance to be a part of one of Coeur d'Alene's longest standing traditions! Spring Membership Blitz May 12th - 16th The"Spring Membership Blitz" will be held May 12-16, 2008. Our goal is to recruit 40-45 new members in a scaled down version of our annual Fall Drive. We are looking for "Blitzers", to be volunteers and enjoy helping out to recruit new members while learning about Chamber benefits. It is also a fun and easy way to get out and network while striking up new business relationships. We are also looking for prizes to award the Blitzer volunteers. Commodore Trailer Advertising The Commodores are seeking businesses who wish to take advantage of a unique advertising opportunity. The Commodores build, maintain & operate a community float which appears in 10-15 parades per year, normally with community royalty. The sponsoring businesses who make a financial commitment will receive space for signage on the float trailer. Participation in the program is limited to Chamber members only. The Commodores will attempt to limit participation to only one business from a business classification.
